We have discussed NodeJS several times in our LUG meetings, and @daniel_ferguson just did a presentation on it again with respect to our work on the BASTAS project.
It’s a Scripting framework built for Javascript to run on both client and server, and allows for the use of libraries to access native portions of the main / host OS.
