Wayland was promised multiple years ago now, and like any really massive undertaking in software it’s a bit behind on delivery. It is, however, getting some legs under it. All good right? Well, kind of, but there are problems. The whole concept of Wayland is that different applications don’t have any idea about other applications on the system, and the graphical portion of the system keeps those sandboxed on purpose. This creates issues when you start thinnking about screen sharing, remote desktop, remote support, and so on.
Seriously major issues in fact. Well, looks like there is work coming to help with these issues. There is now a project going on to allow screensharing, and I’m linking it below. It’s a bit complicated to get setup (at least for what I call ‘fun’), but may be worth it for some of you.
